In-House Diagnostics
Bloodwork testing is vitally important in veterinary medicine because our pets are unable to speak to us and tell us how they’re feeling or what’s wrong. In fact, it’s a basic survival instinct for dogs and cats to hide painful conditions from everyone. For this reason, East Poplarville Veterinary Clinic has diagnostic bloodwork analyzers available to provide fast and accurate results for our patients in the Poplarville, Mississippi area.
Veterinary bloodwork testing and values are not unlike those performed in human medicine. The following tests are just some of the in-house diagnostics we have available:
- Blood chemistry such as Prep profile, comprehensive diagnostic profile, PCV, liver profile, thyroxine cholesterol test, and equine profile plus
- CBC
- Tonometry
- Heartworm
- FeLV/FIV/Heartworm
- Blood Glucose level
- Fungal/Bacteria cultures
- Skin Scraping
- Urinalysis
- Fecal float and Fecal Smear
Blood chemistry values provide us with crucial information regarding the function of the liver, kidney, and pancreas, as well as hydration levels. The complete blood count (CBC) test can quickly and accurately provide platelet and red and white blood cell parameters. A urinalysis provides additional and more detailed information regarding the kidney function and hydration levels of the patient. Finally, heartworm testing can determine if your pet may be suffering from heartworm disease.
Our in-house diagnostics can provide this critical information quickly, so treatment may begin immediately if necessary.
